Mince two pounds of round,
Then add a pound of porksteak, ground.
A cup of "taters", then you mash And beat two eggs into this hash.
One cup of breadcrumbs, all dried up. Some fresh sweet milk, about a cup.
Two teaspoons use to salt it down,
And one of sugar - best if brown.
Half teaspoons each of ginger, cloves,
And allspice in the mix now goes;
Nutmeg and pepper add to taste,
Then stir till mixture is a paste.
Now form in balls, and roll in flour,
And fry them well for half an hour.
And fry them well for half an hour.
Which forty minutes more will take.
